The poster stamp was an advertising label, a little larger than most postage stamps, that originated in the mid-19th century and became a popular collectable up until WW1 and then declining by WW2. Poster stamps also fall under the category of Cinderella stamps, defined as virtually anything resembling a postage stamp, but not issued for postal purposes by a government postal administration. All poster stamps seen above measure no larger than 2"x 3". Poster stamp photos courtesy of bobrph.

    1. Hi there, I'm an architectural historian in San Francisco who is putting together an interpretive display for a historic building that was constructed in the early 20th c. for the Neustadter Bros. company. We'd like to use a bunch of the Boss of the Road images that you have on your site. Is it possible to get higher resolution scans and permission to use them in a permanent interpretive history display from you or the source of the images (bobrph)? I would appreciate a prompt reply, as we are trying to gather high res scans by the end of August. You can email me at dikas@page-turnbull.com. Thank you very much!
